January is that month of the year when we feel worn out from all the celebrations and our motivation hits all-time low. On top of that, the days are still short, here in London, the weather becomes particularly awful and you suddenly realise that you’ve got a severe form of “I can’t be asked” condition.
Know the feeling? I do for sure. And that’s why I have decided to dedicate this month to motivation. I’m launching January Motivation blog post series to inspire every one of you to say adiós to January blues (I’m also trying to learn Spanish).
First post in these series will be particularly interesting to Londoners, but I hope it will inspire everyone else to explore their cities. I’m going to share my top picks where Londoners can get fit for free. Yup, you heard me right, FREE.
I find it really motivating to join a fitness club / class / event and meet other people. And if that doesn’t break the bank, then what’s not to love? So here you go, these are my top picks to get your sweat on for free this January.
Nike is at the top of my list, because it not only offers run, HIIT and yoga classes but also is a place where I met so many lovely people that over the years became my friends. With the new NTC class schedule in place allowing Londoners to try the coolest studios in town (think KOBOX, Detox Kitchen, Third Space) Nike is definitely worth a massive shout out.
So, for the NTC classes you need to click here and for the run club sessions here. You’ll have to be quick though, the classes literally get booked up in seconds. I’ll be attending some of the classes this week and I do make an occasional appearance at the run club, so if you’re coming along, come say hi! 🙂
I love this brand not only because of their super delicious and healthy snacks, but also because they are really community focused and often run events for the good cause. Last year I participated in Tribe 10k trail run which was so much fun! And looks like this year Tribe is offering quite a few interesting events as well as a run club. With 20 stores in London, Sweaty Betty offers not only really stylish workout clothes, but also a wide range of free classes. The most recently opened City store is just around the corner from St. Paul’s and has a run club and yoga classes (which I’m hoping to try out very soon!). There are 19 more stores offering great classes like barre, pilates, yoga, boxing and so much more. Find your perfect class here.
When I want to start my Sundays right, I always go for a yoga session at Lululemon Covent Garden store and then meet friends for brunch afterwards. Lululemon has 8 stores in London and although the classes are not offered in each store, it’s actually really easy to keep up with the upcoming events, you just need to follow their Facebook events page here. My other favourite location is Spitafields Market – for exactly same reason – yoga & brunch.
I’ve been keeping my eye on Adidas Run Club for quite a few months now, but unfortunately didn’t have a chance to join in yet. Looks like it’s another cool run club and I’m definitely planning to give it a go this year. Did you have a chance to try the run club? How was it? Another thing on my list to try this year is Reebok Covent Garden Fithub. Looks like they are offering seriously unique classes – boxing yoga and lactic jungle (workout focusing on animal inspired moves). Boxing yoga sounds great, want to join me?
This gang is seriously cool. I joined them for the Tribe 10k trail run and the vibes were epic. WildTR offers training sessions focusing on your running form, speed and distance. They meet weekly at Holland Park station come rain or shine. You can find out more about their upcoming events on Facebook page.
Fancy to find out what really happens on the running track? Join Track Mafia on Thursdays. Last year I used to go to quite a few track sessions with Nike and it really made me a better runner. Give it a try and see it for yourself.
